Craigslist - Hit Man for Hire
Kill my boyfriend's wife, Please!
A Michigan woman is
accused of trying to use Craigslist to hire a hit man. In November
of 2007 Ann Marie Linscott, age 49 was arrested in Grand Rapids
Michigan for allegedly posting an ad on Craigslist in the
"freelance" jobs category. She allegedly wrote in the ad that she
was looking for a hit man to "eradicate" or kill the wife of a man
she was having an affair with.
Individuals that responded to the ad were offered $5,000 to
eliminate the wife of her lover who lives in Oroville, California.
Applicants were also given the intended targets name, physical
description, work address and other personal information. Linscott
is expected to be extradited to face charges in Northern California.
Craigslist management had little to say about the subject. The
police on the other hand were a bit more honest. "I've seen some
screwy things, but I've personally never heard of anything like
this," Drew Parenti, special agent in charge of the Sacramento,
Calif., FBI office, told the AP.
This story has obviously a few problems with it. First of all what
quality of hit man are you going to find on Craigslist anyway? My
experience with Craigslist has shown me that there are so many kooks
reading the pages of Craigslist, that anyone who responds to your
ad, may turn around and kill you too, just for the fun of it.
Secondly how good of a hit man are you going to get for $5,000? You
can't even buy a car for $5,000, or pay for a funeral for $5,000,
but you seriously think you can get a hit man for that amount of
money? That's why the mob never has these problems. They are willing
to pay top dollar for eliminating their enemies. They never did find
Jimmy Hoffa! Just goes to show you get what you pay for on
Craigslist!
